What's New in TL1 API 4

Some of the new features included are,

1. Logging Framework - The new Logging APIs allow you to debug or identify problems very easily to the minute detail. The log file itself can be customized by specifying the log type, format, time stamp, rollover, etc. Applications can use the Log APIs to add application-specific messages.

2. Message Rationalization - Offers automatic rationalization of TL1 Messages by implementing an easy interface. Off-the-shelf support for seamless upgrade of TL1 messages based on TL1 Message Definitions.

3. The New Exception Hierarchy provided in this release allows you to catch package-specific exceptions such as, TcsException in Command Set package and TL1ParserException in Parser package. The hierarchy is simple with all the exceptions extending from TL1Exception.

4. AID Modeling allows you to define AID patterns for components in an NE; classify them using Patterns and Pattern Sets; Associate them with Input Messages.

5. Construction of TL1 Message Definitions from BNF -  Using TL1 Message tool, message definitions can be easily constructed. To create a message definition, you may have to copy the message syntax from the Bellcore specifications and paste them in the BNF editor.

6. TL1 Message Definitions and Commands for SONET and DSLAM devices - This release of TL1 API, by default, provides message definitions and actual commands for SONET and DSLAM devices which simplifies the actual development. The message definitions and commands can also be edited using the TL1 Message Builder tool, if needed.

7. Internationalization and Re-branding support in TL1 Tools - TL1 Message Builder and TL1 Craft Interface tools have been enhanced greatly to suit the market requirements. These tools offer re-brandable user interface and also support Internationalization so that customers can easily customize the User Interface based on their locale.

8. Serialized Command Set API - Command Set APIs are made serialized which allows you to persist message definitions in any storage such as Database.
